They threw us out of work around 2:30pm to get home safely in the storm. I took that as my cue to hit the road, bound for some sort of skiing. 10 cars off the road and about 8 more inches of wet, heavy snow later I was in the parking lot of the great Wachusett mountain.

A couple of runs proved that my light, semi-narrow skis were just not going to cut it here. I went to the shop to find something a little fatter. They gave me the fattest, longest thing they had, and it turned out be just what the doctor ordered for these heavy snow conditions. I skied a red K2 comp? something, at the longest they had, 188. The ski is really heavy and has a nice wide shovel that continues right through most of the waist. Perfect . . . ok well close.

A pretty stiff wind was coming up the hill all night making for alot of sideways snow, but the rides up were perectly comfortable. Needless to say we were SOAKED, but didn't care much with 16" of new snow by the end of our stay at about 9:15pm.

Much untracked, more deep, very slow on the runouts, wet snow. Lots of fun, jealous of the crowd skiing a fresh foot at MRG, but I'll take what I can, when I can.
