Wasatch weather question

Thanks.

I sorta had the general feel, but wasn't sure about the significance of the "closing off" language.

"Unsettled" sounds at least a little more promising. Keeping my fingers crossed . . .

I'm guessing that "Dirty Ridge" may be describing the brown smog that will fill the Salt Lake City basin.

You would think that. And not surprisingly, you would be wrong.

Yeah ummmm WRONG ANSWER......

We're pretty much done with the "inversion season". Not completely over, but basically..

though again they wouldnt use that terminology to refer to that anyway.

Nice try though.

What is a dirty ridge?

A weak ridge of high pressure, one that's not quite strong enough to prevent weak impulses from pushing through, yet strong enough to diminish their effect.

I thought it was that unseen rock in the middle of Shot 11 in the Snowbird Cirque where I left a chunk of ptex last Tuesday!

The term also can be used to describe the Baldy Shoulder when coated with gray dust from the Avy charges

Looks like Alta's been getting pounded all week. Anyone make it out? I'm still on the IR so pictures and stories are all I've got right now.

I see they're close to getting ballroom open today, that should be great, don't think it was open yesterday. And looks like a big line is setup for Devil's Castle:

Amy was going to try to get up for a few hours this morning, and I believe that Tele Jon is there. I'd be shocked if salida isn't out, ditto for jtran and Perry. I'll have to be content to wait until tomorrow.

You grabbed the URL of the picture that keeps updating. What you wanted to do was capture the static image, save to your local drive, then upload as an attachment, which can then be placed in-line.
Fail.

I was there. Just trying to be nice by not posting a trip report.
Yet elsewhere on this forum, others are whining about the lack of TRs and pics. This is the net - no one is nice!

Started late (9:30) because of traffic on Wasatch (the Canyon was clear). Big crowds. Saw Backside was open after rounding the Collins angle station and was gearing up to hike to High Notch. Then, Ballroom opened as I was about to unload so took a lap on the shoulder. Untracked fluff, not as much slough as usual. Then, did a Backside. Luckily, lower entrance was still closed so it was tracked but not as bad as it could have been. Repeated a Backside and skied all the way out, thinking I would go over to Castle and wait in the line. Rode Collins and right as I got to Germania Pass, I looked over and saw Castle was just opening. Rather than ride Sugarloaf join the line, bombed over to Supreme (stupidly missing the Cecret Saddle opening) and went for the Apron. Passed 4 people on the way up and layed first tracks down the Apron, did two laps on Castle (slow moving line, harvested but still deep) before hitting lunch. Spent rest of day skiing of High T. Got warm (42) and will be lumpy in places this morning.
