What are the odds of a 1977-style winter for AZ and NM

Arizona Snowbowl isn't open, it has only got 17" of snow this winter, and Taos has had well under half the normal snow. What are the odds, Mr Crocker that these areas will have a 76-77 style winter this year. Also, will these be one of those years where expert terrain is never covered in taos? The weekly video for the 11th at Taos's web site isn't looking good compared to last year at that time.

I am pleased with the progress of the season at Tahoe and Mammoth. It got off on the wrong foot but has really picked up.

socal is in the same boat.. under 8" for all socal resorts so far this year.. thank god for snowmaking.. altho i still haven't gone locally yet.

most long range climo is looking like a continuation of dry conditions for the SW into this spring.

I just expressed my opinion on this topic here: http://www.firsttracksonline.com/boards ... php?t=1658 .

Sustained cold weather in SoCal has brought Snow Summit to about 80% open with most terrain on chairs 6 and 10 opening last Sunday/Monday. Jan. 21 ties 1984 as the latest date Snow Summit's open terrain has met my criteria for being worth going there.

But all things considered, I'm happy I'm in Montana and Wyoming this week :) .
