What is Jiminy Peak thinking

Every year a friend of ours organizes a trip to Jiminy Peak. This year there are 21 familes signed up. Thats approx 90pp.
We want to book thier ski in ski out accomidations for 3 nights.
Jiminy has the gaul to only offer at 10-30 per night discount off there regular rates. Either things are great by them or they are clueless...We are in the process of calling other mountains who might want our business..

For 90 guests, it's possible that the resort is offering the organizer free lodging and lift tickets, which would decrease the apparent discount for the others.

Organizer pays the same as everyone else..

I know Jiminy isn't that far north, but why go there in the first place? Night skiing? If you head half an hour further north you're in southern vermont. Why not go to the catskills which are larger and closer.

I don't disagree with you..

Get a quote from Windham. It's a good place for families... lots of accommodations, night skiing, decent restaurants in the village, two high-speed lifts, etc.

You are preaching to the choir...
I'm not the organizer , I'm just a follower. My wife just told , this is what we are doing in Feb,here's the deal. Personally i think the deal sucks, but who am I to question her and her friends ](*,)

And Jason....think about it this way....she COULD have said...we are going SHOPPING.

I think the old saying goes..."a bad day at Jiminy Peak is better than a good day at the mall."

Absolutely , I could be spending the weekend cleaning the house or shopping.. How bad could it be? My wife is with her friends , my kids are skiing with all of their buddies and i'm left to my self to enjoy a beer by the fireplace in the lodge :-$ . If the snow is good I'll even make a few turns.

DOn't forget the Kaatskill Mountain club at Hunter. Very nice accomidations with tubing in the front yard and Racers Edge in the back.

jason, i hope it dumps like hell for ya. jiminy would be just fine with good snow. i once was told by my girl that we would be going to great barrington for new years. the skiing had been good up north and that's where i had planned to spend that time, in my mind anyway. i easily agreed with her and she kinda looked at me funny and said, "that was easy, what, is it gonna snow or somethin?" "i don't know i said". well i knew full well that a storm was a brewing and the berkshires was the direct target. so we get there and sure as shite, it dumped like hell and catamount was a great place to ski pow for a few days with great dining in great barrington at night as i skipped out on work on day 3 cuz it kept on snowin. that storm didn't even make it north of the vermont/mass border, classic!
i'm keepin my fingers crossed for ya, i'm countin on it.

rog that's a freaking awesome story... i've been "Trapped" at a few "crappy" mtns over the years where they got bombed, and the big boys up north or east got snubbed... always makes you feel so happy.

even if the mtn isn't 6288 feet high, powder snow is powder snow :D

ya, can't it be so great? my MO is always untracked snow and i'll drive wherever within some sort of reason to get it. the saint paddies day weekend of 2007, a storm was brewing yet again and all of new england was targeted. it was due to hit mass around the pike on friday morning then move up north for the w/e. i wanted to get 2 out of 3 pow days as i don't ski saturdays so i drove to wachusett and camped in my car so that i could make it. well let me tell ya that by 10 am the flakes started to fall and i didn't stop lapping those 4 runs from the summit till 10 pm when 13 inches had fallen. 1000 vert per run of perfect refill runs for 12 hours does not suck. what else doesn't suck is knowing that every dick, tom and harry spent 8-10 hours on friday trying to make it to mad river white knucklin it while i was havin my way in worcester mass. hit stowe for sunday/monday as the storm was still swirling up there and got 3 out of 4-not bad. lookin forward many snow-i-go trips this w/e. heck, yer already off to a good start, gotta get my skis ordered.
