Where was admin this weekend?

Backpacking in the Raft River Mountains of far northwestern Utah. I told Skidog after our outing in 8" of 20% graupel on Wednesday afternoon that I was absolutely, positively, definitely done.

I note the telling comment/photo/understatement in that Epicski posting:

less than perfect snow

Bob Peters is the 30-year Jackson local with whom Patrick and I skied during the dump of Jan. 28, 2006.

Bob has a ski streak going of over 100 months, I think.

With the streak and living in Jackson that long, I suspect he is exceptionally proficient in variable snow conditions.

So where's the graupel report? Doesn't fresh graupel ski nicely, sort of like corn as I recall?

Coming, although Skidog alluded to it in the discussion following the Alta report of June 2. Just been busy here with some other responsibilities lately.

When there's an inch or so of it, sure. When it's 8" deep, and more where wind-sifted, it's darned near impossible to unweight in...at least for me it is. Add to that the variable depths of it that was due to aforementioned wind sifting, and it became very, ummm..."inconsistent." I may be a powder princess, but that just plain sucked.
