Wholly Cow... What a perfect day. 1st time summer skiing 1st time at Whistler.. Yes we only skied for 3 hrs but, they were perfect..Temp in the low 60's bright sunshine..Fantastic corn snow.. The only down side was I got one hell of a sunburn. Even with lotion.. I was really suprised by the amount of skiing. There was even a trail to by pass the bus.

Yep, that's what you want in summer, clear with no clouds. It took a big year for you to avoid the bus on the way down this late. According to Adam when he was at camp in 2002 that run normally has snow only to early July.

What were the hours you were skiing, and did they salt anything?

Skiing was from 12-3.. they salt and peppered the groomed terrain. i would say about 75% of the skiable terrain...

your img 2260 picture defines the essence of why our crew goes out there " late " unless you have been there " early " ie june and early july, you can not appreciate how much better it is not having all the camps there. all that flat area in that photo to the right if you are riding up and to the skiers left, is covered with poles and pegs early on from race teams...and to the far right of that , where the kickers are, is the high north jib camp.. they are usually good for 50 to 75 rowdy pains in the ass teenagers cloggin up the lift line. ( i'm sure adam is a great kid tony  ) high north shut it down i think on july 11th...i am still sick over having to cut my trip short this year becasue i know how sick that day you had was. i can tell just from looking at the pic...i looks like the only people skiing the upper glacier on the 27th was smarts camp , the telluride bump team and maybe team canada , but they had been buggin out by 1130 when we were there...
as crocker notes, skiing out and by passing the bus is a very nice thing...i knew when i saw the snowmaking pond still covered in snow that the ski out was gonna last till the end...they had an epic year out there for sure in the winter and it made the summer about as epic as it's gonna get...but i would say that in the 7 years our crew has been going out, 75% of the time we have been skiing the road out until at least july 20th...once it starts to go though, it can go literally , overnight... so i think the ski out is viable, on average, a little longer than adam may have heard.
if you ever go back and do it again, just remember you can beat the sun... just ignore the concept/ sell job of sweat proof sunscreen and conceed that on a day like you had, you should layer on no less than 50 spf over the course of the 4 hours or so... at minimum put it on riding up the 1st lift... then put it on again in the bus , then put it on again just at the top before you drop in... and don't be shy about stickin it in and up your nose...i have had and seen many people with the inside of their noses burned...
i'm gald you got to do it.. i've said it here before but at least now you can maybe see somewhat why i like skiing more in july than in the winter

I would agree reduced skier traffic helps the prepared summer snow surface a lot. When I hit a fenced off area in late morning right after the racers quit, it will usually have perfect corn.

For natural surfaces it works the other way. Without skier packing you get the sun cups, which get bigger every week.

I could you it was worth it...especially if you've never done this before. :D
