Well it started with a bang with amazing early snowfall in early Nov, but then a 3-4 week drought. We've been sitting with a 70-80cm base for what seems like forever!

Now finally the storms sweep through starting yesterday. We got a promising 5-8cm Dec 19th, but today it all turned to a pineapple! Yes, a tropical pineapple complete with warm wet rain from peak to valley. What should have been a 20cm dump of the white fluffy was a 20mm down pour!

Needless to say, we didnt even bother to ski today. The water soaked skiers coming off the mtn said it all. Water skiing!!!

I dont know how much of an already marginal base we'll have after this is all over. Tomorrow is only looking marginally better with freezing levels at 1800-2000m and more of the pineapple juice pouring over us.

Man, this totally sux! Is this going to be a repeat of last year? Maybe I should move to North Pole and become an elf!

yep - very ugly up here. the forecast is optimistically calling for freezing levels at mid-mountain, but even then it's just going to be sludge up top. at 71cm, we have less base now than we did on nov. 24. pineapple or global warming? it's shaping up to be a very quiet winter up here.
i'll be in quebec over the holidays and that'll be the first good snow i've seen this season.
happy holidays and hope everyone gets a white xmas!
