stopping in for a quick update. it's been a great january. we've had at least a trace of snow in all but 2 days since christmas, but more often we've been getting dumps in the 10-20cm range. 7 days in january with 25cm+ and 404cm month to date. with another 60cm+ forecasted in the next 5 days, there is no end in sight.
weekend crowds have been heavy with most of the traffic from vancouver. mid-week has been pretty dead and most retailers are worried about how few visitors are in the village. i guess most people booked their trips based on last year's totals (or december's for that matter).
i'd love to keep the snow to myself, but i feel i gotta stick up for my fellow whistlerites. y'all should plan a trip up here this winter. the base is huge, the temps are cold, and there's tons of snow all the way to the valley.

I'm headed to Whisler for the first time on Feb. 13-16. After reading Tony Crocker's report on his experience with Extremely Canadian Steep skiing clinic and because I'll be by myself at Whistler I decided to sign up for the clinic on Feb. 13-14. Hope I won't be in over my head as I only have limited big mountain experience (Panorama and a few week trips in Quebec and Vermont). If anybody in the area on Feb. 15 and 16 wants to meet for a few turns together, let me know.
