Has anyone been to Whiteface recently? <BR>What were the conditions/crowds like? <BR>THanks
 
Was there in mid-January. The best conditions I've seen there in a while. Powder and Packed Powder. May have gotten a bit icy with the warmer temps since then. If so, just think of it as a challenge. I'll only make you a better skier. <BR> <BR>Crowds are almost always low, even on weekends. Plus, they just installed a high speed quad this year. That and the gondola keep the lift lines to a minimum.
 
Saturday morning was windy (enough to occasionally shut down the gondola and/or upper lifts) but not too cold--about 15-20 without the wind chill. Conditions were good to very good, particularly on the upper mountain. Nearly everything except for the Slides was open. There were scattered ice patches here and there, but not so much that you couldn't pick a path around them, and they were making snow up on top. Crowds for a Saturday were minimal. Never stood in line more than 3-5 minutes and usually not even that. <BR> <BR>Worth the trip if you're anywhere nearby to begin with, but $59 for a lift ticket is too damn much.
