Enjoyed watching the hordes at Tucks from across the notch at Wildcat last wknd. Watched reports of good new snow on Thursday and Friday, and also became concerned with the 116mph gusts that were reported. Roommate Jeff and I stopped into Pinkham Notch to find hordes of people asking if their sneakers would do on the trail and how avalanches were possible in New England. Thus our diversion to Wildcat...

Bottom line: Fresh warm tracks all day on Lift lion, Lynx, Wildcat - All had great soft corn with barely a bottom. 1' average base, with some large and very avoidable rocks to slalom towards the bottom of cover. Took my recently new-to-me Totally Pistes up there without a dime of regret. Enjoyed dinner on the old triple platform and looked right into the bowl. We noticed a few folks still on Hillman's around 7:00pm and decided for one last run; hey how often can you crank some fresh turns with sun still shining in your face AFTER dinner?

All in all a great day - chilly night camping under the stars, which were absolutely outstanding. Some planets must have been in alignment or something. Amazing.

Had to wake early to meet friends for a hike, so we managed to make the earliest turns of the season around 6:15 on a really fun crustycrunchy surface down to the end of the line at about 2200'. A fair amound of compacting/consolidating had taken place. Enjoyed a fun and challenging hike up to the tripyramids off the Kanc on Sunday to stretch the legs and found tons of snow there as well.

Quite a combination of sun and snow this Spring for what was a nasty Winter. A little patience was all it took, as the last 3 or 4 earned-turn episodes have been outstanding.

Hoping to actually make the Tucks pilgrimage with some peace and tranquility mid-week one of these days.
