Winter 13-14 begins?

Not sure if anyone had heard about some high altitude snows in Colo in the past week or so. Telluride, Breck, Berthoud Pass, etc... Not much and long gone at this point, but we are past the expiration date on the 12-13 season so I guess we get to really start the 13-14 discussions. I happened to be on the road, but did get this pic on the way past Pikes Peak after a little snowfall.

Are you (EMSC) OK with the floods in Boulder? Boulder had 7.15 inches of rain in 15 hours on Wednesday.

In a word, Yes.

Lots of places are pretty messed up - especially big chunks of Boulder and some of the small mtn towns just outside of it. I'm a few miles east so we 'only' had ~6-7" total rain in 4 days, with about 3.5" Wed night (not including today when it has been absolutely pouring for several hours again). Though a couple of the most dramatic video's have been in my town and of course the local bike/hike trail system is essentially gone.

These rescues were ~1.5mi from my place.

I'll put up a few pics of the local stream flooding in a bit.

I should mention that the creek in the rescue video's above is normally bone dry 8 months of the year.

My town - Lafayette - generally escaped the majority of serious flooding, though there was some in my old neighborhood.

Certainly not very spectacular pics compared to what you see in Boulder, etc...

Glad to hear that you and your fam are OK.

Thanks.

For the record about 1.5" of additional rain on Sunday in my neighborhood which brought the creeks back up several feet, but still well below the recent peak flows.

A bit of additional perspective of the dry west:

This is the creek during normal summer time with it running only ~2-3 feet deeper during the spring snow melt.
