First time to Wolf Creek, second time skiing out West. What a great mountain - wide open terrain with endless tree lines. You can ski anywhere you want, the mountain is so wide, but you can sample all the good terrain in a few days. The snow was packed powder and spring-like on the lower mountain. Three day old and windloaded powder was available on the top ridges and bowls. The bowl skiing was short with a high treeline, but fun. Horseshoe Bowl is great - its so remote, as if you didn't think you already had the mountain to yourself. Locals say you can get powder a week after a storm, which makes sense since most of the few visitors are church groups from Texas.

Wolf Creek is one of those great places that stays just slightly off the radar. Great ski area and the backcountry is just as sweet. Glad you had a good time.

Wolf Creek is off the radar because it's fairly small and it's 4 hours drive from anywhere. But for most FTO readers it would be well worth the trip.
