Wrightwood now threatened by fire!

All looks good. With last nights 29 degrees and the winds dieing down they seem to have the upper hand. A Forester in a TV news interview said they were able to save Wrightwood because of the proximity of Mt. High's snowmaking ponds to get water. Hopefully they are able to get them refilled to start making snow in a few weeks. I have no idea how long it takes to fill the ponds.

Ouch for Mountain High! Good for Wrightwood. I've heard that their wells are so dry from the drought that they've had to truck in water to top off their ponds. However, they've got roughly 50 million gallons at their disposal between the two.

evacuations lifted for Wrightwood today! Things are looking great around here again! if Mt.High opens that 200 ft x 50 ft patch this before friday, i might go over for a "run" just for kicks.

Hi Sno!

The old Newcomb's gang of Chef Gary, Ronda, and I are trying to get the old Sawmill restaurant (now Mtn Chulas) there on Hwy. 2. Maybe we will see you soon.
