Also on a completely unrelated topic, anyone else notice they opened the MVP up again at Mammoth? Figure I will probably get in 4 days or so this year (and the pass is good for April till the end of this year) so it's almost a no brainer.

Yes, I got the MVP notice by e-mail from Rusty today. For new entrants, you pay in April and the pass is good from May 1 to closing this year plus all of next year. I'd say odds of July 4 are at least 50/50, so this is a good year for new people to sign up.

Noteworthy features:

1) Price is same as last year, $576
2) Renewing MVP's are guaranteed until April 12.
3) Total MVP sales will be capped at 38,000. IIRC pre-2005 the cap was 25,000.

I think this is probably the smartest move MMSA can make to combat the impact of the economy. Make marginal cost low for your best customers. The ones feeling the pinch will be much more inclined to do more days at Mammoth rather than go somewhere else. And both the ski area and the town will get SOME extra income from the MVP'ers, even if most of us try to make our trips up there as cheap as possible.

Actually it's good from April 24th.

I'm one that this really makes a compelling case to. I love Utah, but it does add up flying out for the weekend 3-5 times a year (rental car, hotel, tickets, etc). I'm going to look into getting into a group house and buying the MVP and doing just one longer trip out to Utah with my NYC ski friends. I'll miss the Wasatch but it makes economic sense right now (I'm in finance if that helps any...but have a job...a stable one at that)
