    Conditions at Sunshine?

Thanks. We have primarily intermediate skiers, so that's helpful. And your description of Louise is spot on. Tom

    Conditions at Sunshine?

HI, At Lake Louise this week. Snow is pretty good, but getting thin, and the sunny warmth Tuesday didn't help. Does anyone have first-hand information about conditions at Sunshine before we take the bus over there? We're staying in Lake Louise, so it's much easier to stay here. tia, Tom

It was, but we stopped in for dinner, then back to Visp. It was tempting, though.

    Season 2016-17 Plans

That was a great trip report - thanks for posting it. Based on the photo of the trail sign, perhaps a tad more snow than in June!

Advice requested - move to Jackson, WY (Somewhat off-topic)

Thanks for the advice, James and Tony. I read a guide to skiing JH on epics that Bob wrote, and he was a great resource.

Advice requested - move to Jackson, WY (Somewhat off-topic)

Hi all, Apologies in advance for a posting in the Western forum for a non-skiing question. My wife and I spent a week at Jackson Hole earlier this month, and to my astonishment, when we returned home, she declared that in retirement, she'd like to spend a year (at least) living in the area...

Fun photo of lenticular clouds over Grand Teton from the Daily Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -Park.html We saw some of these formations on Thursday and Friday, but never saw this spectacular one.

Baldyskier: Try the Hobacks. Take Hanging Rock and Rendezvous trails from the top of Sublette to the entrance on the right. They're probably _comparatively_ skied off, but it's such a huge area that you'll find plenty of non-groomer fun in there. They've got rollovers, ridges, gullies, trees...

Jackson Hole, WY, Jan. 23, 2015

Great TR! We spent last week there, Feb 7-14, for some spring skiing. Nice pics of the Hobacks. It's a bit different with heavy, wet stuff, but at least the trails on top remained frozen.

    Park City MR 3/4/2014

Re the trail: If I ponder Google maps with satellite view, I think it might have been pretty close to Scott's bowl. We skied under the chair for 30 yards or so, skied to the left, then followed a trail around to the right with boundary signs on our left. When we saw the hill that we'd need to...

    Park City MR 3/4/2014

Oh, that really hurts. I'm off to Killington this weekend to remind myself what I was missing in Utah last week.

    Park City MR 3/4/2014

Jojo: Thanks for the descriptions of the Jupiter system. I was there with friends last week, and since we didn't know the area, (and hadn't done any research before going - d'oh!), we probably missed the best runs. We sure had fun, though. I can't wait to go back. (We skied Jupiter on Monday...

Ski trip: Park City March 1-8, 2014

Hello fellow FTO'ers. I haven't needed to advertise anything before, so please bear with me. This is certainly non-commercial. The Rochester (NY) ski club is running a trip to Park City March 1-8, 2014. The trip includes airfare, ground transportation and 7 nights lodging at The Yarrow Resort...

Volcanic ash rains down on Bariloche

I think the reason is that the ash is abrasive and can damage the jet engines. Although, at least one Eurpoean carrier performed some test flights in Iceland with apparently no damage. Tom

Round 1 to Joe Bastardi & Company

I suppose I should know better than to get involved, but read the book Merchants of Doubt. I heartily endorse the statement 'follow the money'. Of these researchers, ask four questions: 1) In what studies or experiments are you actively involved? 2) In what peer-reviewed journals have you...

    Southwest 72-hr fare sale

Thanks for all the good advice, gang. When I make it to SLC one of these days, you'll save me a boatload of cash using the information. Tom

    Southwest 72-hr fare sale

Here's a dumb question for you guys, but I've never been able to take an impromptu trip, so I'm curious. What do you do about lodging or ground transportation? Ideally, I'd want to get a cab or shuttle to a slopeside hotel and skip the rental car for the weekend, but those accommodations...

Locked anything in for 10-11 yet?

One week early January at Snowmass, and one week the end of January at Sunday River. Apart from those two, I've got nothing special planned. I split a 10-pack of tickets with a friend for the local hill (Bristol Mt in NY). A few of us generally hit Killington for a few days after the peak...
