Norquay opened 1st November with new owner Ken Read set to make some major changes to the famous ski racing hill. Sunshine and Louise opened this weekend ( 10 Novemeber). Presently the snow is coming down Sunday 12th November. Looks like it will be a good start to the season. World cup downhill and Super G set to run at Louise towards the end of November.

I knew that Norquay was open, but I didn't know that Ken Read was the owner. I though the ski hill still belonged to the Grandis?

These areas have had a decent start with natural snow. Probably the Northwest deluge cooled off enough by the time it got to the Alberta Rockies, as in the Tropical Punch of 2005.

I should warn that these are often the most severely impacted areas in terms of drought in El Nino years. 1992-93 and 1997-98 were sketchy nearly the whole season up there.

Partially -- the details are in the news story linked above.
