I rented the skins....

:-s Fer chrissakes, why? You bought the skis, the boots, the bindings...why not the skins? They're the cheapest item in the kit! Haul your carcass down to BD on 3900 S, buy some skins, go back to your hotel room and trim 'em up, then get out there!

Didn't know if I would do any skinning after the course...and I could probably use a little break today..then again I might be tempted to do a half day at Alta...
oh..budget constraints at work..have translated to budget constraints at home...this 10 day trip adds up...

Those skins will cost you about the same as two day tickets for lift-served in Utah, and you're already skipping one of them.

What size are those skins cut for? I still need to get something for the S7s for sidecountry runs.

Not quite that big...prolly only a little over 90 underfoot...they were cut for Sallie Guns....i think :-s

Ah well..I could always buy a pair..but I would not want to go out there alone....

Yup.

The beauty of Flagstaff is that you're never alone, for it's one of the most popular backcountry runs in the country. Stay on the south-facing side and you can't possibly get lost, you can see the LCC road the whole time. You're in the sun skinning up, so it's warm. And UDOT conducts avalanche control on the whole face because it hangs over the town of Alta.

I'd loan you my skins except they're cut too short for 186's. You're welcome to take the skins and the skis (G3 Reverends, 94mm underfoot and light as a feather) if your shell size isn't too long to fit into the medium Silvretta bindings.

You can never go wrong with Monty Python!

That, at least, we can agree upon.

skiing powder mountain friday..

I haven't been paying attention, so I don't have even a long-distance clue as to whether conditions will be right for James Peak. If they are, it can be well worth the short skin up. Of course, you'd have to have some skins.

Think I'll slug out today..thanx for the offer....that hike saturday took everything I had...this altitude is tough on us flatlanders...and wore holes in the side of both heels...wearing moleskin eversince...

skiing powder mountain friday..Alta sat and sun...

My skins would likely fit those pretty good...wouldnt be edge to edge, but surely cheaper than the $100+ you'd spend on new..

Let me know.

I'm just wondering when if ever I will get to go skinning again...would prefer to do it with a few people..who would be willing to wait while I ..try to keep up!

There have been some days were it seemed like there were more people on Flagstaff than on the Collins lift at any given time.
