Avalanches - Canyons sidecountry 1/23/12

No- this is actually good. Now, hopefully, they can let the base build up without worrying about the underlying weak layers. The upper portions of yellow trail and East Greely have not been open yet, and they have been as skitterish as the rest of the backcountry. I would think that ASP is much happier to have them slough off the dangerous layers than to have them sitting up there as a time bomb.
 
Yeah, stan, you're of course correct. I was just thinking about how miserable Backside will ski this weekend if they open it.
