Big White BC Questions

I've skied 5 days at Red Mt. Its claim to fame is long steep runs in the trees. It also has a long graded green run (Long Squaw) for the full 2900 vertical. Intermediates will want to go somewhere else after a couple of days.

I'm not criticizing your Sun Valley deal. It's a great price considering the amenities of the resort. A Red/Whitewater/snowcat trip appeals to a rather narrow segment of the ski population, but one that is well represented on FTO.

The Sun Valley vacation sounds like a great deal. Tony, I like your trip idea too. If you can get good flights, that's half the battle. You can also save big by booking your lodging direct from the property owner, rather than from the resort. We booked a large 5 BR luxurious house, ski-in/ski/out for 7 nights at Moonlight Basin for about $80 per person (split between two families) per night. We buy all our food and drinks in Bozeman for the week. Build up the air miles with our credit card purchases and use miles for most of our flights. Unfortunately, our kids are now too old for the kids deals at most places.

FWIW, CMH does package trips to resorts like Sun Peaks and Big White as well as the cat skiing and heli operations.

Sun Peaks has cat skiing above the ski area. It is ok...but not like the cat operations out of Neslon that have much more exciting terrain and a lot more snow. But for $100...you can't beat it (that's what it cost in USD when I was there 5 yrs ago...probably more now).

Cat operations out of Nelson can be had for about $260USD if you go on standby, which is great if you are just one or 2 people.

But CMH will get the family a deal in a slopeside condo for a reasonable price at any of the BC resorts.
