Took a drive to B.W. this morning and snowshoed to the top w/skis in my pack.I got there around 10:45 and skies were overcast with the smell of snow in the air.Temps were about 30 degrees and the only snow on the mountain was what they had blown.Tons of whalebacks. The hike up was uneventful. The snow conditions looked as if they had eighther drizzle or fog because the snow was rather firm. Not like hardpcak, more like frozen granular. It wasnt bad mind you, definately worth the hike.I took one fall trying to hop turn in some of the deeper snow when my ski sunk and tracked off, trying to rip me into two pieces.Thank dog for toe release or my season would have been over.Best skiing was to skiers right where the snow wasnt as deep and where most people had decended, away from the whales.I had some real nice linked turns that felt awsome!
Attitash blew snow around the base and up Grandstand last night.
((*
*))NHPH
PS,snowshoes were only necasarry if you wanted to hike on the trail where they blew snow.
