A regular follower of these boards should have known that particular statement was inaccurate.

Try repeating that sentence ^^^ aloud in a slow, booming, "voice of God." Pretty funny.

"I SHALL NOT TOLERATE INSOLENCE!!"
Oh come on. An inaccurate statement is "Take the Sugarloaf lift to get to Catherine's" or "Wow! I just did Great Scott! That's gotta be 60 degrees at least!!!"

But instead we have a statement that the Wasatch is having a low-snow year. That's not inaccurate, that's a flat out fabrication or mushroom induced fantasy (from someone who seems to bring up safety meetings, a lot), which can be validated or refuted with only a modicum of simple research. It's like saying it always rains at Stowe because the one and only time you went to Stowe it happened to rain.

Now, for Today's Question (and after that last one, we had to make it easy!):
Where is the only currently operating single chairlift at a North American ski area located?

O:)

I skied Alta today. Yes, the snow was a bit "thick" today, but there was plenty of it! I took some East Coast tourists for some nice runs in the Collins Trees, and a couple of turns out towards the Ho off Wildcat. They saw no reason to complain about the character of the snow, and finished their last day on the slopes with a smile.

Sharon probably worked really hard to save money for this trip. She's thought a lot about when to come, invested a lot of herself and taken a chance. I think a little anxiety about how things will work out is normal.

That forecast is killer.

a killer forecast for an absolute feeding frenzy. saturday should be great (too bad it's a saturday) till they have to have a late or no opening for lcc for sun/mon so that bcc will be a frenzy. i've got some friends out there right now who may just stay in the ogden area mountains through the weekend. back to complete hero in no time out there.

Reread that forecast carefully - take note of the temperatures and moisture; note the water weight of the previous 7" and the 6" before that.

It wasn't powder by a long shot. More like soft-serve ice cream, with water at 15% - 20%. The rain/snow line was at the Hellgate gate, above the base of Snowbird. The elephant snot coupled with dense fog and crap visibility kept the majority of locals away.

If you really thought that, you haven't been paying attention in your seasons out here! You know it all depends on elevation.

It rained to 10,000 one night in Aspen on my last trip there in March 2004. That was after 2-3 weeks of sustained warm weather.

Mammoth has had similar to LCC out of this storm. The snow plot at 9,000 has had nearly 3 feet of snow so far, but the snow line has been up around that level a few times the last couple of days. It's been all rain in the SoCal mountains.

just caught up on this thread as I sit in traffic going into lcc...

just for the record, Skidog is the one who said it is a lean snow year. I was clearly misinformed.

it's a foggy 39 degrees right now with 16" of dense snow from yesterday . I am expecting to sweat a lot today while skiing .

Funny, we're both reading this in traffic. I just passed B gate. And FYI that 39 is Valley temp - it's a bit cooler om the hill. I just hit the snow line @6000 ft.

Snow line was lower today for sure. Snow felt much lighter and skied nicely top to bottom. No lines or people for thatatter at solitude today. Knee deep in the trees shin deep elsewhere. Great day as usual in the wasach. No pics, too much snow and not enough time.
