Gift Article Links

I had to disable javascript (thanks EMSC for that suggestion) to get around the WaPo paywall.

I didn't understand the recent paywall challenges as any links that I post from WP or NYT are always gift articles. Does the javascript fix only apply to WaPo?

I mentioned in a different thread a workaround for virtually all paywalled articles: plug the URL into archive.is.

Disabling javascript works sometimes but not others where javascript must be enabled to view the article at all. You cannot post or even navigate much within FTO with javascript disabled.

I didn't understand why starting a few months ago, people clicking on the WaPo gift articles had to create an account to view them. That's obviously not how it's supposed to work.

I currently have subscriptions to the WaPo and NYT. The NYT is new to me. When I try to share articles from it they don't seem to work for people I send them to. I guess this thread is explaining why?
