Hunter Mountain Report for 3-2-09
New Snow - 10.5 inches of fresh Powda!
Temp at Base 8:00am - 2 degrees
Temp at top of the Quad 8:30am - 6 degrees
Conditions - Total White-Out all day, perfect for taking out the Powda Boards
Skis used - Vokl Mantra 171 Powda Boards

See attached pics for the evidence, very cold day but sweet snow conditions. My question all day was:

Where are all the skiiers at?

We had the place to ourselves all day. Maybe had 40 skiiers and boarders on the whole mountain in total. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Looking to get back there this weekend when the forecast is for temps in the 50's... providing it doesn't rain:-(

Enjoy Spring Skiing,

Sweet! I'm glad that someone got to ski in that last snowfall!!!

Thanks for the report and the pix!!

I am always amazed at Hunter trails = especially those at the summit.

Yep. If the entire hill were more like the west side, I'd go there a lot more. That said, Hunter gets significantly less natural snow than Belleayre or Plattekill, so Hunter West is often an ice rink.

It's especially galling when the true Hunter Mountain summit (~2,500 vertical feet) is sitting there unused. I always side with Belleayre in the Catskills Civil War, but Hunter does have a legitimate gripe about not being able to expand because of an arbitary "Forever Wild" ruling.
