If you want to expierence jay you go there when there is powder check the snow report day before make sure there was snow just dont go thinking there is going to be snow. jays snow report usually tells you whats going on unlike other east coast mtns. nobody that ski/rides jay on a powder day would ever talk shit about that mountain because it is the best on the east and when they get snow its the deepist. I went on 12/12 and 12/19 so far this year and it was perfect I havent gone since because they have not gotten a good amount of snow. its pretty basic with jay go up there after a snow fall and you will be happy go up after a few days with no snow and you will be an unhappy camper

Right! Like I say regarding skiing: April 1st, NOT December 1st .....well, within reason.

Been skiing powder in the BC off the Catamount and Long Trails at least once a week since early Dec. We pulled in to Jay Peak 12/30 and they were already into overflow parking so we just headed up the hill to the trails and didn't see another person all day. Plenty of rock solid coverage with 8" on top. Not surprising that Jay is polished to porcelain with everyone heading up there. Getting out and touring a little for turns is the solution to that problem. Granted the semi-weekly rain/ice events screw things up for a day or two but there is always more on the way.

That NOAA snow map is highly inaccurate. Anyone who has been to Sugarloaf this season knows they have received more snow than is listed on that map.
