sorry sharon, no hot tub as yet - but that is certainly on the list.

this year we have done a ton of work to the place to convert it from a small 2 room hunting camp to a 3 bedroom, story and a half micro-lodge.

in addition to working on the main lodge, we have also built a 10X20 garage, cleared the terrain park, and worked big-time on the access roads. we even scorred a chevy20 van that we nicknamed the mystery machine - this will serve as the engine for the rope tow lift, the warming hut and smoke shack at the bottom of the Tpark.

the lodge sits at about 1,700 vertical, in the next bowl north of jay. the local landowners and ourselves have named this drainage GravityBowl as it became immediatly clear that "this is the place" after searching 2 years for the most promising location for LodgeTheory 1.0 (aka Gravity Mountain Lodge or Burnt Mountain Lodge ... the debate still continues about the name).

you can see that the site has not received enough attention lately... well all focus has been on the physical LodgeTheory as opposed to the virtual now that Theory has become Reality.

thanks for asking about the lodge, and we will see you on the hill - kj

if you think i haven't skinned around the entire mountain in search of the deepest snow, you are wrong. i skied just about everything, and honestly its all the same , with the exception of the vermonter, which had a bit more snow than the rest of the mountain. other than that it was all the same, spotty coverage with some small areas drifted in with wind, still sketchy condition, not at all like last season when we received multiple large storms one right after another. that was epic early season, and this year can't even be mentioned in the same sentance. i am going to try out the mountain today , but after all the freezing rain and rain , i can't imagine that it will be all that good. Now we really need the snow, this is good practice if you ever plan on skiing on a glacier out west.

on another note, the gml sounds like a great idea, good luck with it. that is the sort of place the jay area needs, i will spread the word.

do you have a rope tow in place yet?

red eyes

vermonter was nice, we did that this past saturday - but its a bit too exposed to hold as much as the trees.

sunday we floated through buckaroo bonzai and it was epic. we caught a windloaded section in there that was so sweet and deep. i had the video cam and could not even stop coz was too just good. spent the whole line in one fell-swoop.

yeah last year at this time we were rollin in it. but this is now 3 years in a row where its been fresh pow at jay for (my) start to the season anyhow... so amazing, i grew up skiing sunday river and you dont get into the trees there till WAY late in the season most of the time. my buds in maine still dont believe it - i have to show them the vids then they get all bumpy....hahhahhahaha

rope tow is not complete yet - and this is only for the terrain park area.

it is snomobile or skin access in gravity bowl and you are deffinately skinnin the nipple for the steep turns.

heads up on heading in there by road though... a few folks on the road take "POSTED - Keep out" to a whole-nother level... whacked locals, i love 'em :D

get in touch and i'll take you in there sometime - kj
