hopefully, this will be the last day in a serious of ski days that have progressively gotten worse every day. back to jay with the same options as last week: jet triple to the jet. however, under the lift line option was no longer available so no bumps and natural features were available, just the groomed slope. snow conditions on the other hand were much better today and the surface held up surprisingly well given the amount of traffic. the lift was ski on all morning but the traffic was way more than the jet can handle. conditions were rather variable with occasional soft pushed around snow followed by scraped snow then random piles and finally nice soft ripping snow on the lower jet for some great high speed arcs. i did about three hours of yo-yo'ing before i got bored and packed it up.
on my second run, nhski called me out. nice to meet you nhski, looking forward to joining you for more turns as the season progresses.
glad we have cold temps and natural moving in this week. it was also very uplifting seeing jay caked in white. it was only two inches, but it caked the mountain nicely. also nice seeing snowy fields coming up I91 and over through orleans. better late than never, but it's on folks!
edit: btw, snow making in progress as noted on jay peak's web site on lower haynes and the connecting trails to the tram base area. was nice skiing without having guns in my face, suffice to say, the base on jet is solid and did not need refreshing.
