Maybe. Could be, though, that their comment is part of a joint effort between the ski area and the town constable to slow down traffic driving through the town that's headed to the ski area.

I'm sure Jay doesn't want folks having a bad experience and works with them.

That said, I got nailed last weekend. The cheesy part was it was in about a 200 metre section of State highway where there are about 2-3 houses to one side, and BEFORE the turn off the highway through the actual village. That's the rub, the spot for the trap that day was NOT through a populated area.

North Troy is tiny and it's interesting how they can fund their own constable . I was going a bit over 40 miles an hour, 8:05 in the morning, and other than other skiers there was noobody outside. He wasn't exactly saving the children there.

I did miss the sign, and was going at the usual Vermont speed for that kind of area. This spot is also close to the border and hard on the heels of clearing customs, which if you don't do that much there is a bit distraction. In this case I was talking to kids on some does and don'ts when crossing the border and the next thing I knew there was an unmarked SUV with flashy blue lights at the top inside of the windshield in my rearview.

I'm sympathetic to the police and speed problems but have a hard time to see the "social justice" enforced here.

Ok then... maybe i'm completely dumb... but what type of "action in town" requires a speed limit to be so low AND so enforced? I've spent all my life up there and been trough the village countless time... never seen any kids running in the road... or anyone walking for that matter... The only people you see are skiers coming back from Jay...

I made a commitement a couple years back... I never buy ANYTHING in North Troy... I use to fill up on gas and bring back a couple good local beers back home... well, i'm buying them someplace else now... I don't care if four corners or Jay Country store is more expensive... I won't buy anything in North Troy... I think this is the action that people should take... Tell the clerk at the gas station you're never buying from him again and you'll see pressure being put on the idiotic cop!

That dumbass is a thief!

From Jay Peak's snowreport:

Jay Peak snow report

SPEED TRAP IN NORTH TROY If you're travelling to the mountain from Quebec or Ontario and crossing at the Highwater/North Troy border - watch your speed as you pass through the village. There is almost always a speed trap in the 25mph zone. (For our Canadian friends, 25mph = 40km.)

So i'm not the only one of thinks this is Bull****!

Here's Jay Peak "official" point of vue on their website forum:

TJ--thanks for your thoughts and I don't disagree that egregious speeders should be punished, but this guy is whacking folks doing 27 in a 25 which is excessive. He also has acted inappropriately toward 'offenders' and we've taken that up with town officials. Speeding protocols aren't put into place to 'help general revenue'. The spirit here is intended to curb accidents which we're all for but what is happening is inappropriate. If anything, you're going to see more notification from us, not less.

The dispute lingers:
