Laurentian ( Quebec ) Tremblant to MSSI Report

Just spent a few hours skiing today local stuff ,but can advise the Laurentian glacier is softening up as today featured soft corn snow everywhere with big bumps forming coverage is still 100%. Complete overcast conditions with thick dark clouds and temperatures about 45 F . Hopefully the sun will come out tomorrow as heading over to Alta to ski the natural snow trails.

Definitely CORN SNOW on the Menu today at Mont Ste. Marie (not the Laurentians, but Tremblant can be seen from the summit).

We had overcast in the am, a few hours of sun and dark clouds to end the day. 8)

HOWEVER on a sad note, this weather is also helping bare spots that will be popping out soon. :?

Wet snow falling today and forecasted to fall through the night that in the end will add up to probably 4 to 5 inches ,however with its high moisture content it will probably appear as less. Quite a few of the Laurentian ski areas are now closed for the season not because of lack of snow but lack of interest from the skiing public. Ski trails and the woods still have good coverage even without a artificial snow base. In general still lots of snow north an north east of the St. Lawrence valley. Don't understand why everyone disappears when the skiing is so good.

These pics from Alta really shows how much snow they got in the laurentian's snowbelt this year... really amazing to see all that natural snow left while there is about nothing left in the townships or new england (except the snow from yesterday)

As of tonight this is all that plan to open this weekend -Tremblant , Garceau, La Reserve and Sauveur and even this could change if it starts to rain . This season is ending way to early . No offical word from Alta yet.

Camp Fortune (Gatineau Hills) was suppose to open this weekend, but with the conditions and the weather forecast for this weekend, they decided to call it a season. Orford has done the same.

Yes, it's too early, BUT it's not surprising.

1) Given the lower than average snow.
2) Actually Tremblant on par for the timing of it's closing. They have closed on this weekend for at least the last 6-7 years.

I've been checking the weather anxiously, I'm suppose to head up to Tremblant on Monday. Going to Whiteface on Saturday. I probably won't push my luck at home for any other more days this 4 day weekend, because after this week I'll have to leave for the weekend to continue my season.

Environment Canada forecast for Mont Tremblant

Tomorrow is suppose to be nice. 8)
60% chance of rain for Saturday. :?
Sun on Sunday
40% on Monday - last day at Tremblant.
