Next Storm Discussion

I pray that you both are right !!!
It would be soooooooo nice to have some great snow just after the end of my tests !!
(but I must be concentrated monday to study, though )

well well,

the AVN puts the center of the low somewhere over boston, which means ice and snow for southern NH & VT and it also means the north country gets all snow, and more snow reaches quebec.

the MRF puts the center of the low somewhere over nantucket which means snow for all of southern VT & NH and snow all the way down to the mass pike.

Either way most of ski country will get all snow out of this event, with possible 25+ accumulations

At least thats the way I see it

porter

Holy sh**

I've just seen the "color map" and I think I've never seen that.

Purple for us... and 1 lever higher for Le Massif.

Really nice !

I gotta check those maps more often !

Better and better for me !!
I will have to practice my cross country skiing to reach my test tuesday, though !!!!

http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/eta/06/images/eta_p60_072m.gif

24-30" of snow... this would be the biggest storm ever on Montreal ! I can't wait to see that. Weird that there will be less snow in the Laurentians, in the Townships and in several places of new England... but all change change like last week !!

What a quiet weekend here !

especially with all that snow that is comin' while there is not a lot of nice spots to ski right now.

Anyway, have a great storm. Here, the warning is funny..... 6" to 16"... they wanted to be sure, I guess !!! This won't be the storm of the century, but surely a great one. It began to fell in Dorval, according to the weather of Environnement Canada.

Jim Roemer called for 2"-3" of snow by hour tonite in New England with close to 40" of snowfalls for many ski areas in the zone (possibly up to 4' in Maine). I'm extremely eager to see that tomorrow !!

My hell is almost finished now. 4/5 tests done, so I will be back on the slopes in less than 50 hours, after more than 2 weeks without ski !!! (I just took 3 different opened trail in 5 ski days so far this season... what a shame... and I missed the opening day at La Réserve with every extreme spots "not closed") (I won't say "open" neither)

This was hopefully my last real term at school... but the internship + summer term + study/coaching will be the hell in 2004 ;)

Alright, here in concord so far it has been snowing for 1.5 hours with 4 inches on the ground, and it is 20 degrees (f). Awesome coming down very hard. If the storm continues at this rate I would not be surprised to see 24 inches in Concord, and far higher amounts to the north.
porter

Nice Salida !

Here, just about 1 inch up to now, but snowing pretty hard. It began to fall about 1,5 hours ago too, but it's snowing hard for less than 1h.

Have a great storm !

just checked out a link to an ACTIVE weather map showing the storm and its NE push thru new england...blue represents the heaviest snow--and those spots are HITTING HARD between WHITEFACE ny and SMUGGS vt...............incred.happy daze! pdr daze! brian o

Holy Crap, been snowing for under four hours when I measured a half an hour ago and we have 9.5 inches in Concord. That is about 1.5 inches an hour for the past 4 hours, great storm, still cold enough that it is powder too. Still dumping here.
porter

At 9h15, Owl's Head were already talking of 10" of snow. Considering that it began to fall around 6hPM, make your counts !!!!!!! more than 3" by hour !! Considering that Jay normally receives 1,5 to 2x more snow than Owl's Head.......... very interesting

Have a great storm ! (6" here up to now)

almost all the snow that fell here in beverly, ma has been washed away by r***. hopefully the r*** will stay south of the NH/VT border!

Sad for MA, Riverc0il... especially as wednesday risk to be rain also, I guess......

Here, we got 10" of snow as of 7h45 this morning... but few minutes later it began to re-snow hard, so I guess we will reach the 12" !!!

Really nice to see that ! Jay got 36" according to their report, and it really seems that it's the townships + Jay Peak that will be the most touched by the storm ! They all should close to 35-40" of snow. Incredible to see, but there is possible freezing rain for wednesday and thursday. At least it will be some snow in the north, but it's too bad if they get so much snow and lose it after with freezing rain... but what a base it will be for the season, though ! We would just need another SNOWstorm after and we won't touch a single root of all the season !

Jay Peak : 40" actually and it's still dumping hard... and for all the day long I think !

Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they received 50" or 60" of snow. Wouldn't it be amazing ?

frank------------dont let all this pow wow pdr spoil your studies! you r going thru SCHOOL HELL!
the skis will have to wait! brian o

WE GOT IT !!!!!!!!!!
ACTUALLY, ALL THE SKI AREAS OF THE TOWNSHIPS AND THE BEAUCE ARE CLOSING OR HAVE REACHED THE 100CM (40") OF SNOW IN THE STORM.

THIS IS ABOUT THE LARGEST STORM EVER !!

EVEN BROMONT... NOT IN THE USUAL SNOWY AREA GOT 36" AS OF 4HPM.

ORFORD, OWL'S HEAD, GLEN AND SUTTON MIGHT HAVE PASSED OVER 40"... JUST LIKE THE MASSIF DU SUD REACHED IT AT 4HPM TODAY. LA CRAPAUDIERE WAS ALREADY AT 32" AT 1HPM SO THEY PROBABLY PASSED OVER 40" TOO. SAME THING I GUESS FOR MT ORIGNAL AND MT ADSTOCK.

JAY PEAK IS NOW WAY OVER 40".
