As I've said before, I'm not impressed with Revy's tree skiing. I strongly suspect that whole mountain was logged and grew back denser than elsewhere in the region.

If you want great tree skiing, go to Fernie, Whitewater, Red, Schweitzer, Whitefish. Or to the Selkirk and Monashee cat/heli operators.
 
So I suspect that much of the best glades in the area are not actually all natural.
Most of the cat heli terrain is on Crown Land, which I interpret as sort of like Forest Service. So the government give permission for logging. The logger prefer to take out clear sections, so at Mustang and many other places you see skiing in cut blocks. The tree stumps remain and can be hazards or launch pads. Those stumps tend to be more buried at Mustang vs. other places.

Island Lake is on private land and there's no question they thin some glades for better skiing. I suppose scattered thinning is possible on Crown Land but there would be some red tape.
