That's a major expenditure just to maintain the "no snowboard" policy. Snowboarders would join SOC in opposing its construction.MarcC":3m531yo0 said:Consider the possibility: a cat track corridor on the north side of LCC road. On it's east end is a new Alta lift that connects to Solitude. On it's west end is a new tunnel under LCC road that connects to the Tram Plaza at the Bird. For people headed east, there would be some sort of transfer mechanism - rope tow, mini monorail, moving carpet, rail cars hauled by cable, etc. The corridor and single lift would be the only part of Alta where boards are allowed.
If One Wasatch gets fast-tracked, I see the likely scenario as Alta allowing snowboards on some but not all lifts. The minimal scenario would be to allow them on the transfer rope tow and Wildcat only. The "nice" scenario would be to allow on Sunnyside and Sugarloaf to get into Mineral Basin. Realistically, if One Wasatch is built, the other Utah areas are going to want Taliban Checkpoint open to allow boarders to transit from Baldy at Snowbird to whatever new lift goes from the Albion base to access Big Cottonwood.
I see the ban being maintained for Collins and Supreme. I doubt many snowboarders are willing to expend the effort to do the EBT plus the High T, and the only snowboarders allowed in Alta are going to be those who have paid a premium price for a One Wasatch lift ticket. I do not think the High T would see significant degrading under this scenario, though I suspect admin will disagree.
