LATEST RUNS OF ECMWF AND GFS INDICATE POTENTIAL FOR MAJOR WINTER STORM FOR LATER SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY NIGHT.

I know it is still a few days out for any type of certainty...but it is getting me excited...especially since I'll be at Jay Peak.

Fingers crossed!

To date this year is somethin else. Even though there is a chance... I've got this feeling that the mix precip isn't going to be an issue for the next 2-3 events. Love to hear more of Jason's input.

if i was going up north I'd be REAL excited

um, yeah...I'm having trouble working...i keep checking the weather for an update...as well as here and there amongst my cyberskibuddies for the latest

(delurk and hello!)

Luckily this event coincides with the beginning of my vacation so I will go where the snow is :)

It certainly sounds like this event could have the right ingredients for upslope flow on the wraparound side.

bombogenesis - check
storm track to the north and west - check
movement into the maritimes for prolonged wraparound - check

cold air - ?
advection - ?

sending offerings to Ullr for continued cold!

i am at work so i can't post any maps.
as of now the 12z gfs in 120hrs places a 992mb low just south of long island. This low blows up into a monster over cape cod. The potential is there for copious amounts of snow .. We are still 4.5 to 5 days out so lots can change..

Everyone is honking, it appears like it is about to go from really good to sublime. Especially for december.

Stowe thurs and friday.
Prolly some combination of jay and stowe for the weekend.

A day of BC in there as well possibly, depending on visibility.

Here is Powderfreak's forecast from his day job. :P

The active December weather pattern will continue for much of this week into the weekend.

A quick moving system will spread snow and some mixed precip across central and northern New England Tuesday night. Several inches of snow is expected….with some of the northern resorts picking up close to 6" of the white stuff. Further south, we are looking at mostly rain and some ice.

Late Thursday will be the next stop for the storm parade, which will be another quick mover. The difference this time....it will be colder, and that means more snow. At this point, it looks like a southern track...maybe too far south. Several inches could fall if the storm come close enough. Across the north, snow showers and squalls will bring a few inches of snow into Friday even it the main storm stays south.

Colder air moves in for Friday and Saturday. Then, a much bigger storm moves up the coast for Sunday and Sunday night. Stay tuned for that one.

Please, someone, make this snow come Saturday instead!

David, you need to be more flexible. No one can control the weather.

Both Pam and Marilyn were insistent we come home on Sunday. I told them both that they need to be more flexible or not go. The choice would be to drive back in a snowstorm (could be a 12+ hr drive and quite dangerous), wait until the storm passes before driving, or simply not go.

If we get such a storm, there's a good chance that work and school will be closed on Monday anyway, so they should just come on the trip and go with the flow and enjoy the new snow.
