My Frequent flier programs
Delta: Pretty good for ski towns like Bozeman, Kalispell, Jackson, etc.
Alaska Airlines: Really good - especially if you want a trip to Alaska, British Columbia or NW. Lots of seats for low miles.
United: I often fly United and have a United Visa credit card - but I find it virtually impossible to get the cheap mileage award . And a 40k award is not really a good use of miles. My interest in United stems from the fact they have a virtual monopoly on service to Montrose/Telluride, CO.

Instead, I generally employ a different strategy with United - which can work for travelers residing on the West Coat. This can be used for all of its smaller destination airports (Jackson, Gunnison, Aspen, etc). Generally, United overbooks their afternoon flights - both passenger and weight limitation-wise. However, they become desperate not to bump East-bound passengers because they will not make it back to the East coast. Most of the time, I can get a free round-trip if I get bumped - and get home just a few hours later. The best is getting a free roundtrip ticket for only my bags getting bumped and delivered the next day.

Other than inexpensive, short-haul flights that aren't worth blowing the miles on, does anyone actually pay for air travel anymore?

Seriously, I can't remember the last time any of the airlines took more than a couple shekels from me.

The ski pass shot was too much. I wondered and assumed - but the reality is....pure jealousy.

My few are in a box: some $199-249 stuff from Alpental, Alpine Meadows, Telluride, Northstar - due to Internet money and grad student status.

The aforementioned jacket is always carry-on    . admin's jacket was pretty good. Though it was somewhat heavier it seemed to breathe well. The demo was useful, and I expect to come up with a new jacket by next season.

The day that I see you with a few (3 or 4)jackets, handsom colors, trendy styles, scientific fabric, etc. I will know that you have been transformed, are not hiding your well elitism, purchasing power, or well frankly good sense! Your jacket is good for scaring off other skiers and boarders, not to mention your glasses. Well, I am ribbing you in good fun. I am in Santa Cruz, home of the weirdos in odd clothing! But even they have up to date jackets and ski attire! Dude!

OK, this is when it becomes apparent that Crocker shouldn't have posted that picture.

"Fast Tracks" is a PCMR pass that allows access to a special liftline on the ski resort's four busiest lifts.

Impressive. But would seem a bit annoying having so many pieces of plastic to fumble through. What happens if all the resorts go to RFID tags like Alta? 5 different empty pockets get used?

Fortunately, I only have 2 cards to deal with for access to 6 resorts... But only one of them is a comp pass.
