Spring Skiing

Back on topic; It looks like sbooker is going to see winter not spring in Oregon. Bachelor is expecting a few inches snow every day next week with wind gusts 50+ half the days and at least 35 on all of them. There’s a good chance Summit will not be open at all next week. The lowest 35 wind prediction is for Wednesday.

Crystal will see the new snow too but does not have high wind prediction so more lifts and terrain might be open. Yes Crystal is north not south of Portland but sbooker is an Aussie road warrior so may want to consider that option. The Mt. Hood areas have similar wind issues as Bachelor.

I don't know why but Mt Bachelor has always been an attraction. And we're keen to see Bend and hopefully Crater lake. I've always liked skiing through nicely spaced trees anyway. I assume there are some of those? Kylie will be happy cruising groomers with some fresh on top.

Road around Crater Lake is snowbound. You can go to the visitor center on south side but that’s all.

Bachelor is in general a good fit for you but upper half will likely be closed. I don’t know how tight your schedule is for other options.

Just landed in Broome!

My mate has been in Mammoth. He sent me some pics. He loves the mountain.
They seem to have removed some of the boulders around chair 23 I see.

Decidedly not spring conditions here at Mt Bachelor today. There’s nice pockets of fresh snow but there is some areas where the frozen surface is just under the new snow.
The summit lift is shut.

Kylie likes the hill and the Australian themed trail names.

James, they live in Brisbane, similar climate to Tampa as we discussed during my summer there. And Bachelor is very windy and expected to remain so all week.

I'm impressed by @Sbooker and his wife's dedication to a) fly around the world to ski and b) do it during "off-season." While still working, I don't have it in me to travel to South America or New Zealand for winter sports. BTW, time to break this out into a dedicated TR.
