The correct spelling is Gazex and some homeowners near Alpine Meadows don't like the up to 110 decibels they make.

The only problems I had before this season wearing my Avocet watch on outside of jacket on wrist , even in some heavy wet storms, was a tendency to get scratched and if I did not remove it before removing jacket it ended up on the ground a couple of times. It must have gotten wet inside at Mustang this year as altitude display faded out for a while and when it returned it showed an altitude of over 50K. I emailed guy who changes batteries and said it probably needs re-calibration (which is part of battery service). I'll hold off sending it in until Fall since battery barely last two years and if I sent it in now, it would fail before end of 2021-22 season.

The Avocet is not fully waterproof, so I never wear it outside on a jacket. I was AT skiing at Mt. Rainier Sunrise with Patrick July 2, 2012. Wearing a T-shirt I lost my balance while removing a skin from a ski and plunged my arm with the watch into slushy snow. The numbers on the watch almost immediately started freaking out, so I had to send it for repair when I got home.

I didn't notice the post from jollyturns until today and also didn't realize they were from the same County as me - I thought they were British. The accuracy of their lift info looks great for the couple of Tahoe ski areas I checked. I'm not sure that my phone could handle running app at Heavenly or Kirkwood where my phone uses a lot of battery searching for cell signal.
