Utah 3-Day Weekend Suggestions?

Gosh - wow, I thought this post was going to fizzle the minute the Admin explained that I should search this same topic from history, but boy - we sure have a diverse train of thought here on what makes the most enjoyable day of skiing, terrain vs. powder potential, rapidity of powder track-out, and horror-of-horrors: liftlines! To be honest, coming from the the East Coast and spending every weekend in Vermont, I get so spoiled the minute I step off any lift in Utah, and cherish every minute of amazing skiing that awaits (despite the fact that locals may consider it a crappy day) or not a foot of fresh, etc. Even 5 day old, tracked out packed powder in UT sure beats the 60% of the time I'm skiing dust on crust and ocassional manmade groomed in VT. Overall - Ive learned many things here on my first post - but most importantly: keep things flexible, and never hesitate to ask for advice! Thanks :)

PS: I wont be dropping my New Yawk bagel on the slopes.. hehehe

No, but you can drop a dozen off at the FTO editorial offices. Utah bagels suck. Part of it is due to the challenge of making a bagel at altitude, and part of it isn't.

Really? Have you been to Rich's?

There is one at Van Winkle and 6200 south (which just so happens to be right next to snyders meat market, home of the 200ft meat counter, it's so bad ass).

There is also one at highland and alta canyon (round 8800 south).

They even get the everything crumbs on both sides of the bagel.

As the resident new yorker, who has lived in other parts of this country, I must say: (this is the snob in me) you can't find a bagel outside of the metro area. For that matter, you can't get a good bagel outside of the h&h on 80th and broadway. \:D/

No matter how you argue with me on this I will never agree with you... and you will always be wrong. \:D/

Basically agree on that. My overly simplified ratings:

NYC = 10
Several other specific areas in the NE USA can get up to = 7 or 8
(other places I've lived) - SE, PNW, Calif = ~4 or 5
Rocky mtn region (so far) = 2

Totally subjective of course.

We await for the first good bagel rating for the region to be confirmed in Ootah...

It isn't this country but Montreal also has real bagels.

I know of the place you speak of. I believe Tony Bourdain went there on his show "no reservations." If I remember properly, he said they were pretty damn good, but they still weren't New York bagels.

Utah has got snow, montreal has poutine, new york has bagels.

ya, but utahs snow ain't nearly as good as nyc bagels right now. sunday river has snow as well, but like utah, ok maybe worse, not so good. you always got good bagels.

You can have your effin' bagels, for Alta was surprisingly delightful today. Steep chalk as smooth as a baby's bottom for multiple Backside laps, and hardly anyone there. Starting to edit the video. Story at 11.

chalk? where do ya find that in the wasatch? i can only seem to find perfect untracked when i'm there. don't know how you put up with that.
