Utah's biggest storm of the season?

Already a foot at Alta, and this is just the beginning of a potent three-day storm.

We'll know more in the morning. Hard to surpass Saturday April 4th though. 3 Feet over night at a couple percent density.

For quality, I certainly agree. For quantity, though, this one may be the winner.

16 IN up at DV this morning.
Why would someone be skiing backcountry or in a closed ski area today? Given the massive crowds in admin's pics from Sunday, I would think you spoiled Utards could handle midweek lift service today.

Shouldn't Tony be speculating about where Admin should ski tomorrow?

PCMR, Brighton, or wait for the interlodge to clear? :dead horse:

 With Alta closing this Sunday you know where I'll be for the remainder of this week.

Actually, I'm working tomorrow as drier snow falls through midday Friday. I'm taking Friday off - should be a good four feet by then. \:D/

33" so far at Alta, and the storm has a good 42+ hours to go before it's done! \:D/

I enjoyed an amazing amount of POW at Alta today. It was already deep as I started my day (around 11:00 AM) and it continued to snow so hard that my tracks were actually filling in between runs. A friend of mine from the east has been checking conditions and he called me this AM to ask if I would pick him up at the airport Thursday. I said: "sure, so long as you arrive after dark tomorrow." Can't wait to see conditions on thursday! \:D/

day 65..... remarkable you ski entire seasons to get the snow we had at the start of the month . you hope in a season you can get a day like today. small crowds BIG SNOW 10" today while i was skiing. departed skidog top of wildcat about 1:oo p.m. headed for keyhole to the bird . hiked up the shoulder abit higher than normal to get to keyhole gate . dropped down through the trees from the ridge into keyhole proper two patrol tracks & mine thigh deep untracked snowbird must have just opened keyhole . skied eagles nest first run untracked to the rope tow. ya mid week lift serviced i suppose is ok when you get the crowd & snow combo balanced. ow and they were walk on trams while i was there.

Hardly. Obviously no crowd issues at this time of year, and the places outside LCC are either closed or have cut back lifts/terrain severely. Only an extended road closure should keep anyone out of LCC.

With regard to Alta vs. Snowbird, those with Altabird passes should keep their eyes peeled for terrain openings, as BobbyD demonstrated today.

Just another reason this crew should head down to snowbird more often. Walk on 3K laps. No brainer.

I'll be there plenty, starting next week.

Tons more people yesterday too, at least more than alta which = tracked out even faster.

I'd say bobbyD and I got at least 5 pretty much untracked runs before you had to go "hunting".

With the lighter density of the stuff thats supposed to fall today and tomorrow I really hope it adds up otherwise you will be finding the bottom and hitting the tracks from yesterday. Yesterday was very "maritime snow".

Maybe ill sneak out again, but I doubt it. Sat/Sun for SURE!!

Cars were parked on the bypass road VERY far above the heli port when I left at 1:30. Alta lot was not even full at that time.

When BobbyD and I made our first runs the Alta lot wasn't even half full. I found that odd personally, but I wasnt complaining.

Anyone skiing tomorrow, i'd start to worry about the sun that is shining in between the spots of wraparound moisture....

10 second rule is in FULL EFFECT!

Agreed. I was bummed when the sky brightened this a.m. and I saw a distinct lack of cloud cover. In fact I nearly switched my day off for today. But for now it looks like enough snow will likely fall this afternoon into tomorrow morning that all should be well for a powder morning on Friday. Fingers crossed!
