live from - the glacier... just checking in to see if the access on this comp will go through....epic day 1....cloudy but no rain... temps about 45 in the glacier....ski down to 2nd upload lift is fine so no bus ride on the way out... plentyu of snow coverage for bump lines as they made a decision not to build halfpipes... SIGNIFICANTLY LESS BOARDERS :D :D :D ..
tomorrow looks bad for weather but will update in few

total washout.. they closed the hill all day... sun is clearing up now... the 7 day looks mint for next week... lots of camps shutting it down next week :D .. should free up some lanes...

Glad to read that you're enjoying yourself out there, joe. Keep us in the loop.

utter disaster today  ... yesterday, weather was rough indeed... snow, fog and sleet made it really tough all day... a total of about 2 inches by the time we headed out of the glacier at 3pm...not fun at all.
today, after uploading, setting up our station and riding up the horstman for run #1, all power was lost ... total power outage for all lifts... we had to hike out of the glacier and the regular download quads were running on generators to get everyone off the hill... ski patorl said it could be 50/ 50 for tomorrow , the explosion of the transformer was that bad....
have a new digital camera with video capability so if we ever get a decent day will have pictures and video...
weather pattern looks good for this week :P

What a good way to answer to the people who say that you write reports too long without pics ! ;)

Really bad for the accident... I hope nice conditions and power will come back soon ;)

Enjoy your time there ;)

after 2 lost days in the glacier to power problems, they finally got both t bars spining.... camp starts tomorrow and they were on an off day so we had an epic day today in smarts lanes.. pretty much all to ourselves... cloudy and slight drops of rain till about 10 am , then the rain went away .. partly sunny and temps up to about 45 in the glacier....snow was epic and stayed firm all day... still wish we had more days on snow than we have had for the start of camp , but what can you do..
small camp this year for this session... coaches will be for moguls, scot bellevance ( team canada ) ryan johnson ( team canada ) and kelly ringstad ( team canada ) .. and of course john smart.... glacier is starting to clear out with camps .. the okemo race team is out here running gates on a couple of rented lanes.....weather looks epic for the 5 day forecast....
we'll burn some turns for u jimg and all the other bump bros

With the record low snowpack is the area used by the Blackcomb camps in any danger of losing cover? Can you ski down to top of Solar Coaster at the end of the day?

Timberline was unable to go year round for the first time in 2001 and will almost certainly be worse this year. Some of their June camps relocated to Mammoth.

TC: yes we are still skiing down on the ski out... it has lost about 100 feet in the last 2 days for a walk of about 300 feet.. not sure how long they will keep it going but up until where the snow just disappears, there is still a good 3 feet on the upper half and about a foot on the lower half
epic day today...mostly blue sky with highs of about 55f in the glacier at 12 noon....mogul logic and psi international camps are done... world mogul and smart are the only mogul camps left.. skiing onto the lift for the most part :P .. hard freeze last night set up sick snow by 10 am in the bumps and made for a good hour of flat turns in the early am.... pop% for rain is about 60 the next 2 days but i have a feeling looking at the ski we might dodge it...
smart's lines were in the best shape of the trip so far...perfectly rounded out ... 5 distinct lines....course is 12 bumps up top- 20 in the middle and about 25 on the bottom...getting some good pictures and video.
had ryan johnson today ( team canada .. 7 in the 2002 olympics ) scott belevance tomorrow and had kelly rignstad yesterday )

the good weather has arrived....last 3 days either 80% blue or full on blue... up to about 60f in the "glay- see- er" as our buddy south african dave would say... dave pulled in to town for a 2 day drop in session w/ smart's camp.
world mogul camp wrapped it up day before yesterday... the high north jib camp's 40 foot table is pretty much useless and world's 30 foot table has been taken over by smart but is begining to degrade.... no problems at all though with the mogul lines :P ..( jimmy g what's that plake says in fistful about not needing a million dollars to build a little playing field  ) we are the only mogul / freeride camp left on the hill....okemo race team is still here and have taken over the flat lanes in the am   but its " no worries " as they all say out here... skiing right on to the t bar makes for a solid 30 to 35 runs a day including class. my body has recovered ( finally ) from the initial shock of not being on skis for a while and am feeling pretty strong after 12 straight days of bumpin.... i thinks that's part of the beauty of skiing in the summer.. it's warm out and your body warms up quicker than it usually does back home and you don't feel like some frozen popsicle all day long ....the 5 day f cast looks insane with close to 100% chance of blue for the duration and about 50 to 60 f in the glacier with about 75 to 80 at the base. ( it doesn't feel like 80 though :P .. more like 70 at worst)
the ski out closed yesterday as the walk was about 500 feet and one major break in the path down so it's the mountian side bus tour from now on...the upper 60 % still has about a 2 foot base on it. i still think it would have been worth it to avoid the bus , but the lower 25% really had u dodging rocks for sure. think they were concerned about the public skiers trying to negotiate it.
last day of our coached camp is tomorrow and then we are out here for 6 more days on our own poaching lines :P

another good day today...every camp is gone except smart's... the alberta team showed up a few days ago and have been skiing with smart.
previous 3 days were blue sky and about 55 in the glacier.. today was cloudy with some fog...
next 2 days calling for blue sky which will wrap it up for us...tomorrow should be epic as smart's camp is off and we will pretty much have the lanes to ourselves :P
the glacier is really taking some major hits... lots of cracking and rocks showing up on runouts... mogul lanes still have plenty though so that is good...smart starts a 6 day camp on monday to finish out the summer season for w/b.. he should be ok.
feeling a little tired after 16 straight but no injuries is a plus!!! hearing the weather is insane back in east  i could stay here for another month

test photo again

sorry for the delay with putting up camp photos... if marc wants to wipe out the above 2 test shots i will start posting the real ones with captions. i was / still am trying to figure out this digital camera resizing thing.. it's been very frustrating but i think i got it figured out somewhat and will start putting up the pics as i sort through them. got about 100 to pick from... i see on a general discussion board post there was a poster who has offered to host some video.. i'll get in touch with him and see if he can put up some that i have taken... have a couple of segments from myself, my buddy gil and a few of the legit bumpers from team canada too... how many days to K?

Joe, although the file size is close to the limit, you can still make the physical size of the images larger and squeak below 60 Kb if you use JPEG compression. My advice is 480x360 pixels, the maximum size for inline display, and save them with a 70% JPEG compression. If you mention the photo editing software you're using, I'm sure that someone here can tell you precisely where to change the compression settings.

And in case anyone is wondering why I'm so anal retentive about this, the board posting problems that some of you were experiencing last weekend were due to the server's drive getting full. That's why.

i hadn't noticed any issues over here. if the drive is getting full, would you prefer links to off site images if available? i really took to the in post images with captions and utilized it heavily this season, but i can link to my own server in the posts if that would help with space issues.

maybe just use something like photobucket or webshots and give us link.... doesnt take up space and any idiot can figure out how to use it.... even me :D

and ohh ya i havent noticed any problems either, and i have been visiting atleast once a day
