Hi all,

I'm considering taking a trip up to whiteface during the week of 3/8. Based on past experience, are the conditions usually pretty solid heading into March?

Thanks!
I've had two good trips last week in March. First time all trails were open and the conditions were fantastic. The second time almost all trails were open and we had great conditions 2 out of 3 days. The third day it had warmed and refroze and it was very icy in the morning. They have very good grooming and by early afternoon it was back to excellent skiing. Mid-week we absolutely no lines- walk up to the lift and get on. Go for it!
Go for it. Theres no one around and conditions are excellent. I was there march 15th last year and enjoyed about 4" of fresh powdery snow in the morning and spring corn by the afternoon. We did find some ice but thats the way it always is at that place. Everything was open and coverage was great. Their glades were a little thin in a few spots and very bumped up from a whole winter of skiing but still were alot of fun. I think march is probably best time to ski up there just because theres no one around. I was talking to a local on the chair and he said that the slides would normally be open on a day like it was but because of recent warm days there was a very high risk of avalanche and it was closed. And don't think i'm crazy talking about avalanches they get them in there alot the same guy was telling me about when the whole wall slid in on him and a couple of his buddy's when they dropped in off the highway. Found his one friend who was buried because his hand was sticking out of the snow. But besides the slides it's probably the best time to hit whiteface simply because the snows still good and most tourists shut down at the end of febuary.
John, March can be a great time at Whiteface. I highly recommend it. I know of a great place for rent if you have a family or a bunch of people.

Call DJ at 518-523-5721 for more info and tell him you heard about it from me.
