Sorry, Charlie... like most ski areas, Whiteface's last day is April 13.

Sorry James, I just saw on the Whiteface's website they'll open the following weekend. Closing date has been set to April 20.

Then the real question is: Do you guys think its worth the extra 2 hours to get to Whiteface, or should Gore be comparable?

Whiteface isn't two hours north of Gore. We got to Whiteface from my house in 3.5 hours, and we weren't going much over the speed limit.

Harvey44 should be checking in soon to say how Gore was this morning.

I'm kinda surprised that WF is going another week.

Wilmington is about an hour and 45 minutes north from the north creek exit of 87.

Sorry, but that is not true. It's about 30 more minutes from exit 23 (Gore) to exit 30 (WF), then another 30 minutes to WF.

I live off exit 8 on 87. It takes me about an hour and 15 minutes to drive to Gore and 2 hours to drive to WF.

Yep. the soulless suburban wasteland of Clifton Park. We own a place in Wilmington too. Someday we’ll live there full time, but we can’t right now.

I drove from WF to Gore last night in 1 hour and 15 mins. (Our place is 15 mins past Gore, so 1:30 total drivetime.)

I'd say from NYC, WF is probably an hour farther than Gore at the most. At deluxe speed, maybe less.

I'm also surprised Whiteface is going until next weekend. It's going to be a warm week. Call ahead no matter where you go.
