Snowbird's Saturday opening is only on Gadzoom, Wilbere and Gad I, ... Don't be overly surprised at what isn't open at Alta this weekend. :?

Yeah, but over in the east here, we are chomping at the bit for any hint of enough base and open terrain to justify a flight to SLC for some early season Cottonwood Canyon skiing. For those who venture out this weekend, please post details on your experiences.

Cheers,
Jeff

Ditto to "lookin4powder" I am working on finding a travel "buddy" for a run out to SLC Sunday evening 11/26 on Jet Blue, with a return Wed night getting back into NY around 0530 on Thu 11/30. Anybody interested?

We're heading out to PC's WRoD now, and will report back and of course after Alta this weekend as well.

Spoken like a true crack horror missing their sauce...No matter how questionable the quality.

For those of you who must satisfy the fix soon and are willing to get on an airplane to do it (this is the line I draw when being picky about skiing), I strongly recommend Whistler. 90 inches of snow (and it's still snowing) in the past 2 weeks, base depth 52 inches. Opening day is tomorrow, but with that much base there should be a lot open by Thanksgiving. Reported BCC/LCC base depths of 35 inches Alta, 32 Snowbird, and no more than 24 elsewhere do not imply huge amounts of terrain being skiable.

Other info of note: Sunshine will open part of Delirium Dive this weekend. And there is probably more terrain skiable out of Denver than SLC for the next week or so. A lot more if you include Wolf Creek (4 hour drive).

I'm headed for the Caribbean for a week starting tomorrow. That's my opinion where vacation $ are best spent this time of year. Will Whistler be as good? Probably, but I would have had to commit long before I knew that.

Dang! Canada's probably out in Dec as I just sent my passport in for a renewal. So, I'm watching to see if SLC or Colorado (including Wolf Creek) starts one of their epic series of December snowfalls. I'd say that the current pattern is promising.

Well, considering that it's only Nov. 18th, Alta was fabulous today. I quit after lunch as my quads are throbbing, but Bob kept my camera for a hike up Baldy Shoulder. Once he stops by the house apres ski with the camera I'll get a posting up. Can you say "untracked on Greeley Hill"? I'm sure you can! I won't, however, be venturing out the High T again until we get more snow without 103 mph northwesterly winds. It was hell getting out to Piss Pass, but heaven once through it.

More to come in a separate topic later. I just finished a 90-minute recovery nap.
