I thought this might be appreciated here. There was a bar in Telluride near the base of Chair 7/Coonskin called Leimgruber's Bierstube. It was an authentic Euro-German style Stube where locals would all have their own mugs - not USA-size, but Bavarian-sized - engraved with initials and would hang from the ceiling.
A friend just reminded me of this today....
In remembrance of a not-so-recently gone Telluride institution.
This is one of several homes at the corner of Pacific and S. Davis streets where a rambling Victorian that housed Christel Leimgruber’s Bierstube once stood. Certainly for gemütlichkeit, nothing in town has replaced Leimgrubers for apres ski. It was wild and a true Telluride institution. I’m just guessing, but Christel was probably ready to retire and back in the late 2000s, before the economic bust, the business was not worth what the real estate was. The hearty vibe persisted for another year or so after Christel left, when the joint was rebranded the West End Tavern.
And why we cannot have anything nice in Telluride anymore (bars, affordable lodging, certain restaurants, etc.).
It's now just an income property - Airbnb/VRBO. Very close to where our Telluride house is.....

American Pale Ale - somewhat humorous to me. I doubt most Americans would realize that our West Coast brews have that designation.
You guys were the pioneers of that style I guess. Like English bitter.

This was taken at Massanutten, Virginia ski area about 2.5 hours southwest of Washington DC. Snowguns/snowmaking reigns supreme in this part of the ski world.
Label design plays a big role in marketing these craft beers. They often catch Liz' eye, as she worked in marketing for many years.

Alcohol is an interesting space marketing wise. Label design is absolutely key for craft brewers; as is simply getting shelf space at all (at least in the US).
That said, I always found it interesting when blind taste tests are conducted. For example, Corona does not taste very good and it clearly shows up that way in blind testing; but due to great marketing it is a super popular beer in bars environments.
I'm sure that the beer is good but graphics like this would almost deter me from buying it.
