Evren: better to be tarred and feathered online...
Our attitude is simple: it's all skiing, it's all good. Ski where ever you like, enjoy whatever terrain and resort(s) you want. We're not trying to convince anyone to ski at Alta or anywhere else. But for dog's sake don't whine and complain about your decisions when there are only 2 lifts and 5 trails open in mid-December at the area you chose and don't keep posting falsehoods about road closures, crowding, avi control practices, topology, et al. It's a disservice to those who actually might want factual information.

I was skiing Jupiter at PCMR all morning when I should have been posting on FTO, it would seem. Marc_C, I have not commented on many of the things you claim I have (Alta's topology? liftlines? being tracked out by 11am?) so I thought you should know, being, you know, as committed to "truthiness" as you are. But I am glad this has been a bonding experience between you and Skidog.

Lighten up Francis. :-o it's all in good fun. Like Marc said its all skiing. Don't second guess your decision. Snowbasin will be good at some point this season. :stir:

One could also point out that "topology" and "topography" are very different fields, as part of our reinvigorated drive for factual information.

That's quite correct. Alta often resembles a mobius strip while Snowbasin is closer to a Sierpinski gasket. The Canyons of course is a truncated torus.

Snowbird at 134%, Ben Lomond Peak Snotel (8K feet) at 57% and Ben Lomond Trail Snotel (6K feet) at 26% of to-date average. Snowbasin being at the 6500 to 9K level and near Ben Lomond, should correspond roughly with the 26% to 57% readings.

Not at all. Neither of those sites are within 10 miles of Snowbasin and not on a mountain even aligned the same way, and are therefore completely irrelevant. That's like saying that Ensign Peak above Salt Lake City has snowfall analogous to LCC.

You'll have to do better than that.

Further evidence of the irrelevance of your Ben Lomond example:
