I grew up in Leadville, CO....skiing Cooper, Copper, A-basin and the rest of the Summit County slopes and beyond. The backcountry is endless and the season is long (year round).

Recently I've moved to Vegas for work. The lift serviced turns are somewhat limited but the backcountry is amazing, extensive, and EMPTY.

Several times a year my clients fly me back east so I've managed to do a lot of New England sliding too. Usually they have me staying at the big resorts. But crowds are not my thing so I try to find some local knowledge and slip away now and then. Last year while staying at Loon I discovered Cannon and the Franconia Notch backcountry. WOW! Smaller scale than what I'm used to but way more technical I think. I never expected to find stuff like Tram Line in the east. And the bowls and trees on Lafyette and south of Cannon (don't know names) are very demanding.

This year they're bringing me to Sunday River. The trail map looks decent but the Topos really have me more intruiged. Looks like some possibilites for long lines in tight trees (if maybe not so steep).
