Beer thread?

I drank this last night. Bought at last big liquor store in Fruita, CO off I-70 before returning to UT. Not that special, but OK.

Lucia bought this at same liquor store. Not sure they sell stuff like this in CA cannabis stores where prices are high priced due to taxes compared to other states and BC. Even NV has much better prices on cannabis that CA.

So the cannabis drinks have THC in them?
Speaking of which I’m headed to Amsterdam in a couple of days. I’m there for the tulip festival not the weed though.

plenty of churn here in Colo. Constantly new ones opening and also constantly ~5-10 year old brewers going bankrupt.
Yesterday was our turn for this unpleasant narrative when we learned the news about our excellent local brewery -- so named because it was near the intersection of Orange, East Orange, West Orange, and South Orange, New Jersey. As noted in their announcement, you could find their products all over the region but apparently it wasn't enough to keep them going.

They've had lots of fun music acts and never a cover charge. We especially enjoyed the tribute bands (recently REM, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rage Against The Machine). Surprising that they hadn't booked tributes to Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill, or Queen Latifah, all of whom grew up in East Orange.

Yes, that drink has 50 mg of THC. I found they sell drinks with 25-100 mg of THC in CA. This dispensary is at a former large bakery near where my Grandmother lived. https://caliva.com/collection/bever...ion[sortBy]=menu-products-by-price-production

Enjoy Amsterdam. I haven't been there for ~45 years but would like to go back with my wife sometime. A lot to see.

@jamesdeluxe Sorry to hear about brewery near you closing. I went to a retirement party at new branch of one of the few San Jose brewery last evening.

Another not beer that I bought today at Grocery Outlet where all their wine, that often sells for 25-50% of what they say is list, is an additional 20% off for a week. I bought two Sauvignon Blancs, one from New Zealand for $5.59 and this one that I'm wondering if @jamesdeluxe has ever seen or tried for $3.99. I also bought three reds that I'd tried before and know are good for $3.99 to $7.19. All prices after 20% off.

The cashier announced my $117 savings (included $6.60 from wine sale) over the PA. I'd also bought a lot of snacks, etc. as we are driving to near Mammoth tomorrow for friend's birthday (BUT NOT SKIING!!?? until Sun or Mon).

Hah. As an insulin-dependent diabetic, I only take occasional sips of wine and am the furthest thing from an oenophile. I may have mentioned before that my last name is very common in francophone countries -- especially in Quebec, where it's a French version of Smith or Jones.

Bought a 4-pack of this in addition to a bottle of wine (SLH Pinot Noir) when I stopped at upscale grocery store that is on way to my Mom's house and was hosting very poorly attended wine tasting. I was the 6th person to try their wine. Store had dropped tasting for a couple of years.

Karl the Fog is an attempt to make Bay Area's Summer fog more friendly. Very good and very hazy beer. My Mom, whose stomach was bothering her, tried some and said she liked it and it made her feel better so I gave her a little more. On sale at $14 for 4-pack plus the usual tax and CRV.

Last month I made a trip from SLC to Sandpoint, ID to ski at Schweitzer Mtn (beautiful). On the return drive I went through Missoula, MT. A friend recommended a beer called Bayern (German style lagers) from a small brewery in Missoula. I went to a supermarket there and got the beer guy to help me find it. He suggested I also try an ale called Cold Smoke from another small local brewery Kettlehouse. I got a 12 pack sampler of Bayern and a four pack of 16 ounce Cold Smoke ale from Kettlehouse.

The Bayern was excellent, 10 Apr 2025 outside Silver Lake Lodge at Deer Valley:

Today, 12 Apr 2025, I tried the Cold Smoke ale for the first time. This is on the tram plaza at Snowbird, UT.

Really good. I gotta tell you, this might be the tastiest dark ale I've had in years. I need to drink some more to cement my findings. But man was it good today! I even had a random skier come up to me and ask where did I buy that on the plaza? He wanted some badly. I sadly had to tell him I bought it first hand in Missoula. I didn't dare tell him I had another in my cooler next to me. :-)
