Not sure how much I should share, but friends' Dad who passed two years ago at 92 (lived alone and looked much younger) should have stopped driving sooner than he did. He had an accident, someone was injured and got insurance policy limit plus this property if he wants it. Their Mom had passed years earlier. The only good thing to come from accident is my Mom stopped driving not long after our friend's accident.
A few more pictures. From the store, you are overlooking the Middle Fork of the American River and can see snow in the Sierra. Sunset to right.
The only time I'd previously been through Foresthill was on the way to raft the Middle Fork with my son. Not long after the start, you go through
Tunnel Chute rated 4+. Just after leaving I-80 on the way to Foresthill, you cross the North Fork of the American River on "
the highest bridge by deck height in
California, the fourth
highest in the United States, and among the seventy
highest in the world at 730 feet (220 m) above the river."
Some wood fences around the property had blown down and were not needed due to wire fences. We saved some of the good wood and (legally) burned the rest. This was Sunday before 2:30 PM. We saw truck taillights were getting very warm and fogging so we moved it away.
Next is Monday just before 11 AM. One of the fence panels we burned is in the back of the truck.
This was our biggest fire Monday about 3:30 PM when we burned some plywood and other wood found in 50 x 40' metal roofed parking area.
